The OLC ensures members and others who are interested in literacy know about literacy issues in Ontario. The OLC helps people share information. The OLC also helps people from all over Ontario come together to do work that affects literacy across the province.
How do we play this role?
We tell others about what is happening in the literacy field now and what we think may happen in the future. We listen to others and gather information from them. We provide ways for people to work together to improve literacy in Ontario.
To help people communicate, we set up meetings, forums and conferences. We bring together people from the literacy community and people who do related work. We co-ordinate projects and activities in which many varied groups work together.
We work with members and others in the literacy field to make sure that we are all committed to sharing information with each other.
Members of the OLC receive multiple communications from the Ontario Literacy Coalition, which include direct mail and e-bulletins. Other forms of communication, such as the OLC Website and Weblog are open to the general public.
