Are you ready to be part of a Policy Governance Board?

1. Do you want to make a difference in the issue of literacy in Ontario?
2. Do you enjoy bigger picture thinking?
3. Do you want to invest your time and energy in developing and refining a vision for the organization?
4. Do you feel comfortable leaving the day-to-day activities to the Executive Director and only monitoring her or his performance against the Board's policies?
5. Are you ready to take on more responsibility for visioning and big picture thinking?
6. Are you willing to participate in Board development sessions on a regular basis to inform yourself on current issues (development sessions will be designed and delivered through regular Board meetings)?
7. Would you find it meaningful to link directly with people who have an interest in literacy (moral ownership) to hear their needs?
8. Are you interested in a model of governance that expects a Board to monitor its own behaviour and its own ability to help the organization move forward?
9. Are you able to come to the Board table to advance the best interests of the Ontario Literacy Coalition before the interests of any other organization?
10. Are you willing to apply your unique skill sets and perspectives to a Carver board environment?
