Privacy Policy

The Ontario Literacy Coalition (OLC) and its affiliates (AFLO, ALNO) believe strongly in respecting the privacy of your information. We value the trust of those we deal with and recognize that maintaining this trust requires that we be transparent and accountable in how we treat the information that is shared with us.

Privacy practices:

  • We review overall, not individual, trends in the use of our web site. This means that we track data related to the number of visits to our website and to each section within the website and we do not track each user's particular activities on our site. We use this information to measure the effectiveness of our website.
  • We only gather information that is voluntarily disclosed. We do not collect any information without the user's knowledge and permission, and personal information gathered by the OLC will be treated with respect.
  • We do not sell, rent, share or otherwise make available personal information to other organizations. All information we collect serves the OLC's purposes only. Personal information that you provide will not be shared with other groups. This also includes financial information.
  • Disclosure to third parties. Like other organizations, the OLC does hire external companies to provide certain administrative services that require access to employee, member, and stakeholder information. These services include payroll/benefit supplies, credit card payment processing and external auditors. The OLC may release personal information when we are required by law or in situations where we need to protect the rights or property of the OLC.
  • We only contact individuals for purposes related to our projects and activities.

  • The OLC makes every reasonable effort to keep information accurate and current. Questions, concerns and updates to information such as address changes, legal name changes or corrections can be forwarded to:

  • We support the efforts of parents and legal guardians of children under the age of 13 to monitor their children's Internet usage and to caution them against providing personal information to any web site over the Internet without permission.

The Ontario Literacy Coalition uses reasonable precautions to keep the information disclosed to us secure. The OLC is not responsible for any breach of security or for any actions of any third parties that receive the information. The OLC also provides links to a wide variety of other websites on the Internet. We are not responsible for the privacy policies of these sites or for how these sites manage information about their users.
